Renaming of Cowboy Stadium

 

The Dallas Cowboys have announced a name change to their stadium. Now called AT&T Stadium, the change was a multi-year, multi-billion dollar branding deal. The team’s owner, Jerry Jones, says that he wants his stadium to be “more familiar than the White House.” The new deal will double the stadium’s Wi-Fi network to allow for faster mobile access.

Chinese have not only been traveling for fun, but also to stock up on baby powder. Ever since a Chinese manufacturer laced their baby formula with a chemical that killed six children in 2008 and led 300,000 children to fall ill, Chinese have been clearing the shelves of baby powder in European countries. Numerous countries such as The Netherlands, Germany, and England have restricted customers to two packs of formula per person to allow local natives to be able to purchase the product as well.

Norfolk, Va - Norfolk State University is hosting an Admissions Expo for the fall semester Wednesday, July 31, from 4-7 p.m., in the Student Center, Room 149. 

 

Prospective students and military are encouraged to attend the expo.

 

Attendees should bring official transcripts, SAT/ACT scores and letters of recommendation.  The application fee of $45 will be waived for all new applicants and the chance to win a free tuition for a semester.

 

Norfolk State University is located at 700 Park Avenue, Norfolk, Va. 23504.  For parking, enter from Corprew Avenue at Norfolk State Police Station.

Cell phones now fueled by urine? Scientists at the Bristol Robotics Labroratory have developed a microbial fuel cell that uses human pee to power mobile devices. The fuel cell has bacteria that uses urine’s chemicals to turn into electrons that turn into phone calls. As of now, each charge can only power a quick phone call.

Children Poisoned by Lunch in India

 

At least 22 children have died in India, while more than two dozen are left sick after eating a free school lunch that had insecticide. Officials are not sure how the chemicals got into the food, but think the food may not have been washed properly before it was cooked. School authorities stopped serving the meal after children between the ages of 5 and 12 began vomiting from the meal of rice, lentils, soybeans, and potatoes. The lunch was part of a national campaign to give one daily meal to children of poor families.

Forbes reports a leak that a cheaper iPhone will be coming to the market. The budget iPhone concept will consist of a colored plastic casing. Does this sound familiar? Remember the iMac desktop? The plastic colored stationary computers? It looks like we might be going back in time with this one. Consumers expect the budget iPhone to be pieces of repurposed iPhone 4s' that will create a plastic backing. They also hope that the budget iPhone will sell for less than $250.
