HAMPTON – Something is a little fishy in the pedicure bowl!  Dr. Fish Therapy is a service that is offered at select number of foot spas.  The closest spa to carry this service is All About the Sole located on Big Bethel Road in the Hampton Woods Plaza.

 The fish originally come from Turkey and are called Garra Rufa and Chin and Chin.  They are completely toothless but nibble and suck away the dead skin from feet. 

The fish only consume the affected and dead areas of the skin, leaving the healthy skin to grow.  Particular enzymes in their mouths allow the lifeless skin to break away.  This allows for an easier exfoliation process.

Fish therapy has been around as early as the 14th century.  The Turks took advantage of the hot springs to help themselves relieve fatigue and cure diseases.
